Kidane Futwi - Director of Banquets

Kidane Futwi started his career in Food and Beverage in Italy in 1974.  In 1983, Kidane moved to Boston and was part of the opening team at the highly regarded Westin Copley Place. Five years later, Futwi moved to Florida as part of the opening team at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

In 2001, he attained the role of Director of Banquets and began to transform the department. By integrating restaurant servers with banquet veterans, Kidane reshaped the local philosophy of banquet service and proved you could provide a highly personal and dynamic level of service to any group, regardless of their size. This unique concept has lead to numerous national awards and acclaim from both meeting planners and peers alike, becoming the benchmark for banquet service in the Starwood Corporation.  Even now, Kidane continues to train and develop managers in his philosophy, and remains an inspiration and driving force for growth in the Banquet department.
