Patrick Harsch

Patrick was born in Michigan, but was happy to move to Florida at the age of 12. Fresh out of college with a video and film degree, he was editing video for a living. His neighbor introduced him to the concept of sand sculpting as an occupation. He had a sand box set up in his dining room (he was single) and Patrick made a copy of a small stuffed bear. Next thing he knew, his neighbor offered him a job! His first sand sculpture was for Disney creating a "Sandta Throne" scene as a photo op for guests. Since then professional sand sculpture has been his primary occupation, now sculpting for over 20 years. Professional sand sculpting has taken him to many Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Europe, Mideast, Asia and all throughout the US creating projects that generates extensive media coverage and foot traffic. Patrick recently won the Sugar Sand Sculpting Championship with a piece called "The Muse". Patrick is happy to call Clearwater, Florida home.

Mark Mason

Mark started sculpting sand 28 years ago, competing in the Sand-Blast, a sand sculpture contest held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he grew up. For the past 22 years, professional sand & snow sculpture has been his primary occupation, taking him and his team to many Caribbean islands, Hawaii, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, the Mideast and throughout the United States creating projects that receive extensive media coverage. His clients include theme parks, shopping centers, conventions, fairs and festivals. Mark won the "World Champion" title by coming in first place in the World Championship Sand Sculpture Competition held in British Columbia, Canada. Other first place titles won by Mark and his team include The American Sand Sculpting Festival, The Myrtle Beach Open and The Southeast US Championships.

John May

John, an artist and sculptor, resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where his interest in sand sculpting began. After graduating college, John worked as a graphic designer and budding artist. By chance he was introduced to sand sculpting at a local contest and became fascinated by the unique medium and process. Gradually he developed his skills and began sand sculpting professionally for Team Sandtastic. This afforded John the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working on large scale, high profile projects around the world alongside some of the top sand sculpting professionals. With two young daughters at home John’s focus changed from international travel to more local endeavors. With over two decades of professional sand sculpting experience, John remains part of an elite group of artists who travel the world creating amazing sculptures in sand for special events, grand openings, promotions, fairs, festivals and more. His animated style and performance art always draws a crowd and is sure to create a buzz at our event.

Stephen Schomaker

Originally a graphic designer and photographer, Stephen got his start sculpting sand 12 years ago on an event with Team Sandtastic creating chimneys and stone walls for an intricately detailed medieval castle. He was hooked from that moment, and since then, professional sand sculpture has become his primary occupation. Sand sculpting has taking him across the globe, including many Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Canada, Asia and all throughout the US creating eye-catching projects, one-of-a-kind features for special events, and the occasional rock-balancing performance art that generate extensive media coverage & foot traffic, not to mention stunning photo opportunities. Stephen grew up in the St. Louis area, and is happy to call Sarasota, Florida home for the past 20 years.

Fun Fact:
